Client details

AEPM (Association Européenne Payez Mobile) was set up in October 2008 in order to promote and accelerate the deployment of contactless mobile payment in Europe by developing specifications and carrying out field trials in Caen and Strasbourg. Six large banks (BNP Paribas, Groupe Crédit Mutuel-CIC, Crédit Agricole and LCL, Groupe Caisse d’Epargne , La Banque Postale and Société Générale) and four mobile operators (Bouygues Telecom, Orange, SFR) launch a joint field trial, known as “Payez Mobile”, to test a mobile contactless
payment service.

Project details

The AEPM asked us to redesign, define and test a noname UI for the mobile service. We defined a comprehensive approach, focusing on the users’ real needs:

Expert review of an onboard prototype designed by the EMPA,

Definition, recommendations and design of the main user tasks,

Prototyping of the application on a Sony-Ericsson W580i

Qualitative user testing (32 users reviewed) in Paris and Strasbourg

Writing of the functional specifications

Axance provided practical recommendations, based on observed usage, user expectations and technical constraints.

Testimonial

« The ten members of the EMPA thank the Axance’s team for its delivery of quality and availability throughout the mission, for sharing its knowledge of the telecom sector, its expertise in mobile usability and the effectiveness of its testing process. That’s how Axance made well informed recommendations and pieces of advice. The EMPA was able to make the best choices, so that banks and operators are able, ultimately, to provide their customers with contactless mobile payment solution as intuitive and simple as possible. »

The Coffee Grid

On the last year of the hétic school, each student has to take part in a project where they start a company. If they are willing to, they can go to through the whole process once they graduate. Thus, I worked with three colleagues of mine, we developed a whole concept, put up a business plan, and realized a prototype that we could introduce to investors. This project was successfully carried out and everybody was so committed. This project was very rewarding for me whether it is about project experience or business setting up or team spirit.

Our project was about an online money game where gamers could win high tech prizes. Here follow the rules: for each prize is a grid with a certain number of squares. To be able to play, the user has to buy credits. Once the grid is fully completed, the winning square is revealed and the user who bid his credits on it wins the prize.

The success of this project is based on 3 major factors. The first one regards the law. Indeed, in France games of chance or money are forbidden and dedicated to the Francaise des Jeux. Yet, several practices give us the opportunity to get round the law. Our business plan included a detailed action plan to go round this problem. The second factor is about economic success since such a project only becomes profitable once a certain number of players is acquired. Again, in our business plan, we detailed the promotion part of the game and how we would bring traffic to our website. Finally, the last factor regards the technical realisation since the grids have to be updated in real time. For this problem, Nicolas realized a fully functional / practicable prototype using Red5 technology.

This project was warmly welcomed by the business angels who were invited for the presentation. But the members of this project decided to focus on their personnal careers and thus, the project was aborted.

The previous site was pretty old and not aligned with the business strategy anymore. ChateauOnline asked us to redesign the whole site and focus on the very large navigation structure. Indeed, ChateauOnline offers to his client a very large range of wine from all over France and foreign countries. That’s why users can now browse the different kind of wine by color, year, location of origin, name, etc.

Synerg’heTiC is a growing fast junior enterprise specialized in web design. As all junior enterprises, Synerg’heTiC is a local non-profit organization linked to a university or a school, entirely managed by students. Related to their field of studies and expertise the students offer consulting services to the market; experiencing unique learning opportunities by doing professional project work. As one of the eight board members of Synerg’heTiC I took part on many web projects on one side, and managing this medium sized enterprise on the other. Doing this I added practical experience like business prospection, brand promotion, team management, and so on.

Project details

This project impacted my (short) carrier since I learned so many things. Only a few designers under 25 years old have the opportunity to take part in such an important project, for such an famous client (in France, at least). Our team was in charge of the online strategy of a major broadcasting company. We redesigned three national websites, visited by millions of Internet users each year. I was mainly in charge of the project management, but I also took an important part during the design process, working closely with Sam Woodman. He is one of the greatest UX designer I’ve met and even though he’s not aware of it, his work has influenced / impacted my next careers moves. Thanks to him.

En parallèle du redesign de ses trois plus gros sites, France Télévisions asked us to design an online video player in order to browse and watch their huge stack of videos and tv programs. It was a very interesting project with a lot of usability issue due to the usage context (ie. in front a computer with a keyboard and a mouse as well as on the couch with a tv remote. For political reasons, this player has never been online.

Project details

To replace the former website, JM Weston had to get a new elegant and sophisticated version to reflect the quality of its products. During my short term contract in Nurun, I was able to support the project manager, Emmanuelle in the follow up process, the creative team management and the technical specification process.

Client details

Musée du Luxembourg is a museum in Paris, France. Situated near the Palais du Luxembourg, it once housed paintings and sculpture from the nineteenth century. Much of this collection was moved to the Musée d’Orsay at its opening in 1986. However, it now features temporary exhibitions according to a program dictated by the French Ministry of Culture and the Senate.

Project details

In 2008, the Luxembourg Museum in Paris opened the greatest exhibition dedicated to Arcimboldo (1526-1593) in twenty years. Arcimboldo is an icon of the surreal artists for his portraits made of vegetables, fruit, or animals. For this exhibition, our client asked us to redesign the whole website in order to promote this major exhibit and sell ticket as well as Arcimboldo’s goodies online. This was a short-delay project because of the opening date issue.
